CAM JOINS NSF FUNDED INTERNATIONAL CONSORTIUM ON RESEARCH IN ENERGY CONVERSION

The Centre for Advanced Materials joined leading US international institutes in developing a major proposal for The International Institute for Multifunctional Materials for Energy Conversion (IIMEC) under sponsorship from NSF. IIMEC is now funded by NSF for five years and has been established at Texas A&M University in partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Houston and international research collaborators at universities in North Africa, the Middle East, and Mediterranean countries, including The British University in Egypt which is represented by CAM.

The mission of IIMEC is to establish a communications, knowledge-base and computational/laboratory grid that will advance research in multifunctional materials for efficient energy conversion, provide students and faculty from the US and participating countries with global research and international leadership experience, and contribute to the transformation and advancement of materials education in all participating countries.

Associate Dean of Engineering and CAM Director Prof. Yehia Bahei-El-Din serves as Egypt’s project leader in IIMEC.
